Building the right CPU for me

Hi guys im new here and i want to build myself a good computer.

Main task: Running programs like photoshop, possibly AVID Media Composer (Big program), and also a bit of gaming.
Also im in photography so an all-in-one card reader would be useful

Budget: 1000$ - 1600$

Are you in the US, and do you have a perferred site?

A Intel 2500 or 2600 chip, the newest i5 and i7 chips, a upper mid level video card, Nvidia brand if you can use a gpu as a processer... A large drive and associate bits is what you basicsally are looking for.

Nope im from canada, no real preferences although i prefer intel over AMD
