CPU Power Connect Problem

That should work.

Most power supplies either have a 8-pin and a 4-pin, a 8-pin that splits into (2) 4-pins or they include an adapter.

What power supply did you buy?

No, you don't need that, your psu should have a 4 pin molex connector like this:

Find this on your psu as it has to be there, also make sure to plug in 3 pin heatsink fan for amd cpu.
Or 4 pin plug for intel heatsink cpu.

oh, thanks. I just found out that I can actually split the 8 pin into two 4 pins.
As for the heat sink fan, I just plug that into the mobo, is that ok? Or should it go on the psu? I have the amd phenom ii x6

the motherboard should have a small 3-pin power header labeled "CPU" for your cpu fan. It's usually located above the cpu and to the right.

Yeah I know muffin, usuallly I get the connector name wrong with that one, but when I work on computers alone or with somebody I refer to it that way.

But I know which connectors he was talking about thats why I showed him that.
