lsass exe error/hard drive

ok one of my freinds got ahold of a virus and he got black screen and lsass exe error when he logs on and cant get to virus scan.

so what i did was take a working hard drive i had laying around hooked it up as master put his as slave so i could run scan on his hard drive and get rid of the problem but for some reason it says that his hard drive is not formatted witch i know it is. how could i fix this?

running xp seagate harddrive with sata connection (his)
xp with ide connection Maxtor

he has a compleat custom build

Did you switch the jumpers? Did you try getting into Safe Mode?

safe mode got the same problem the sata hard drive dosent have a plave for jumpers that i can see

I thought you meant that PATA one, never mind.

Only other thing I can think of, is get Hiren's Boot CD, burn ISO and do a virus check with that. There are many options. Choose one.

ok how would i run a virus scan if it wont boot up? and hooked up with the other drive it wont pull up the bad one

This boots off a CD, not off a HDD.

man i cant get the hirens bootcd i keep gettin error on the iso

Try downloading it from a different source. They're all over the net. Did you try here first?

yea i tryed downloading if from all over same problem always says the iso is corupted tryed unzipping with dif programs winzip winrar and just plain windows zip
