Laptop hard drive pin information

So I've got this laptop hard drive with a 44-pin connector, and all of those pins are fine. There's also a set of 4 pins beside the 44-pin connector, and one of those is broken off.

It doesn't look like this pin connects to anything inside the laptop...

I haven't been able to find any information about these additional 4 pins on the net--what do they do, and would this broken pin stop the hard drive from working?

If it looks like it doesnt connect to the laptop, then no harm can be done. But if you are not sure then i would look in to it realy carefully and find out what that pin does. What is the name of the hard drive?

Those are for jumpers, in a laptop you dont have to worry about them.
