This is a truly annoying problem. On my dell inspiron 1545, running vista, the keyboard often acts as if the CTRL key is being held down, even when after looking at a keyboard testing program no keys are being held. After locking the computer and unlocking it the problem is gone for a maybe 10-20 mins before coming back again.
It could be related to when somebody spilled ale on my keyboard, although the problem has only surfaced a long time after this happened. This accident meant that some keys work intermittently and some don't work at all, after i removed some of them and replaced them for a clean. I find it hard to believe its a hardware fault, especially as it is fixed for a bit when i lock and unlock it, or restart the laptop.
Will I need to buy a new keyboard, or is there a potential fix?
Thanks in advance
