Going to start putting first build together soon.... Looking for hints and tips....

Hello, thanks to the help of you guys and also reading lots of old posts and such, I'm almost ready to start putting together my first computer. I just have to wait for a few more parts to get here and then find the time.... LOL I have experience installing new hardware here and there and also re installing windows, but have never completly built a computer......

I'm just wondering if there are any small things I'm overlooking that I might need, such as cables, screws, etc, etc ,etc. And I'm also looking for any hints or tips for a first timmer



Also I'm wondering if the heat sink compound that came on my AMD cooler is good enough, or should I buy a little tube of that silver stuff from newegg??? I might mess with overclocking a bit, but nothing major, but I figured if I can get the processor to run cooler it may be worth it???

I'm also planning on adding a 2nd DVD drive later on, a nice graphics card when I get the money, and maybe another 8gb of ram eventually.

Then I decided to get a new LED LCD ASUS 23.6" monitor and hold off on getting a graphics card for now.

I already have a HDMI cable, keyboard, mouse, nice surge protector.

I would spend a few more $$$ and get this memory. They have the same latencies (9,9,9,24) but run faster, 1600 MHz instead of 1333 MHz. And there rated to run at 1.5v whereas the Corsairs are rated at 1.5v-1.65v (they may run at 1.5v but you may have to increase the volts to 1.65v)

Do you think the 1333mhz will hurt me too much???

Because I already bought it, I got a good deal on the psu and ram with a combo deal. With both rebates and $25 discount I was able to aford the better psu and 8 gigs of ram.

I won't be gaming mostly surfing plus web design doing some photo & a little video editing, plus some 3d modeling now and then.
