For the past 3 years I have had 4 HD failed on me regularly on one machine it doesn't move from the same spot or nor dose it get hit but I have the same machine for another family member and the HD haven't failed one is it possible for something in the computer to make it fail again and again even with different brands or am I just unlucky

I did have to get the power supply replaced in the machine because it fryed the mother board, hp fixed that problem for me for free because of the warentee but I only saw in the invoice that they replace the mother board

When you said it "failed"

Are you sure the drive failed physically or just failed to load windows?
I am just checking..

Alot of things can cause hard drives to fail.

Bad PSU
Heat issues
Shock and vibration
RAM issues (yes, saw it once, bad memory killed a hard drive in 2 weeks)
And of course SPYWARE/VIRUS infested computers.

Having your hard drive being constantly put to work to read/write/seek chunks of random fragmented data will kill it.

It could be anything, trying to diagnose things over the web is very hard, but just food for thought.
