how hot is your sandy bridge running? i think mine is running HOT at load

hello I bought an i7-2600 no (k) at stock speeds and the temperature seems a bit high.... i thought it would run at 15-20 no load and around 40 with load

i'm running defraggler and playing battlefield bad company 2 and its running at around 60 to 65 i'm wondering is that normal ? it seems a bit hot

maybe i'll try aftermarket heatsink? anyone have a good recommendation for one?

thanks

Not sure about Sandy Bridge but my i7 930 (Bloomfield) running Folding@Home runs around 70C on a Corsair H50 mini-water-cooler with two fans. 60-65 seems OK unless there is a significant difference in temperature tolerance on the new chips. Look at your full maxed out temps (run something stressful like LinX, IntelBurnTest, Folding@Home, etc that uses 100% on all cores, then check temps). I wouldn't let it go over 80 C, if it does go over 80 either lower the voltage or get a better cooler.

There is no way you're going to get an i7 processor down to 15C unless your ambient is under 50F... Especially with the stock heatsink.

Hitting 60-65 under heavy load is completely reasonable.
