I have done much research and know the concepts and ideas I need to follow to do this build. However, I have a lot of variables to consider.
Computer's uses:
Factos to consider:
What I have found for video editing:
My Idea:
It would obviously be ideal to build a sweet i7 package for around $1500-2000 but it can't be done with my budget, so...I want to know if I can get the performance I need from older but still good technology?
The List:
This is just an idea, as I was writnig this I had to make changes because the parts were purchased, jeez, all is from MicroCenter. I can't afford to do a RAID 5 set-up so I would do a RAID 0 if supported, and run a separate hd for my os, and probably an old hd for storing pictures. Please let me know your ideas, I don't mind constructive vriticism. Thanks in advance.
Computer's uses:
- recreational CAD (Microstation V8, maybe AutoDesk Inventor) {can be sacraficed}
- video editing (Corel Video Studio Pro V3) {most important}
- Internet browsing, email
- Photos/video
Factos to consider:
- I'm not the only user, parents will use for browsing/email
- Would like to stay under $500
What I have found for video editing:
- RAID 5 set-up is preferred
- 7200 RPM Hard drives
- Hyperthreading is a must
- Workstation grade graphics
- 9+ megs per second sustained throughput
- 12gb memory

- 8gb memory.....$?
