Oh, you're right, it is dual core. I forgot some of the i5's were like that.

You don't have to do it. I'm just saying, games draw way more from the gpu than the cpu for the most part. If you go with this combo, the 580, and the case and psu you selected, you will get way more performance for the same price.

It's still more expensive, either way. In addition to the combo you posted, it would still cost me $840 for a total of $1,160. I also need: OS, CPU Cooler, Case Fans, WLAN, etc...

My build will cost me about $200 less...

That is my point...the $200 is almost the difference in price between a GTX 580 and a GTX 460.

I only play Starcraft 2 and Team Fortress 2. For the most part, SC2 is more CPU intensive than GPU. Either way, the GTX 460 is plenty for me. I don't need Ultra high details (hurts my eyes!)..I will run on high for the most part, with some things on medium. Medium-High is really all you need.

I don't know where you get $1,160 from, but yeah a 460 will play sc2 and tf2 on ultra. Why do you want to put some things on medium?

$200 more than my build...

On Ultra high settings, you get a lot of extra lighting and effects, which take away focus from game play...

If I can play on medium-high settings with good fps on this desktop for ~3 years, I will be happy. After that, I can upgrade.
