Force Screen Resolution

Hey guys, I'm trying to force my laptop's LCD to run the resolution of 1440x900 for a project i'm working on, but can't get it to do it as the mode is not listed in ATI control panel, or in windows resolution setting (including the "show all modes" box in Windows 7).

The card is an AMD HD5870M who's native resolution is 1920x1080. I know it wont hurt my LCD to force it, because for one, it's a lower res, and two, when i plugged in an external monitor who's native res is 1440x900 my laptop's LCD switched as well. Is there a way to force my display into 1440x900?

Any help on the matter will be most appreciated! Thanks so much!

Edit: I seem to have solved my own problem with a little program called PowerStrip. Thanks for reading though!

There should also be options in the Catalyst drivers to force resolutions/custom resolutions. Powerstrip is a handy program. I used to use it about 5 years ago but moved away from it in favour of integrated solutions mostly.
