Applying Thermal Paste on GPU

Do it just like for a CPU, but you should use less as the GPU is much smaller. I would put a dab in the center and spread it a little with the edge of a plastic card; the pressure of the heatsink will even it out.

Most Nvidia gpu's have a larger heatspreader than a cpu and therefore require just a little more paste than a cpu.

I had recently put new thermal paste on my CPU and when I did the GPU I used a little bit less, but I dont have a huge card. What I did was just put a little in the middle and didn't spread it out. I haven't had any problems since replacing the fan. Do you think I should reapply it or just leave it how it is?

I have the latest drivers for my card I think, but I dont think it shows the temps in the Nvidia Control Panel. The card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI. Is that too old of a card to have temp monitors in it?
