When considering PCI Express, one should compare it to socket 939.

PCI-E is a new interface just like socket 939. 939 only offers slightly better performance than older sockets at present. However, it will offer MUCH better performance in the future.

Almost the same conditions apply to PCI-E. Right now it only offers the same performance as AGP, but in the future it will dominate it, just as 939 will dominate older sockets.

So if you go out and get a PCI-E board and card don't expect it to dominate your friends old AGP rig...yet.

...I wrote this because I thought maybe it could clear up the PCI-E vs. AGP topic for some people. Most people seem to understand the s939 thing, but often not PCI-E.

Thanks. True. It will take some time to develop devices wich fully take advantage of PCI-Express capabilties.

damn that board is just loaded down. What are the 3 small little slots in between the PCI-E and PCI slots?

yea, but only the top pci-e(long one) is 16x, the small ones are just 1x or 4x or something or other.
