well i was wondering if theres a program that would block the installation applets when surfing on internet. Not the explorer ones, but those like "do u want to install this and that" .Sometimes its the applets asking if you want this page as Homepage.

Sometimes there are applets that are asking u to install something, and u have to click yes or no.But if you click no,the install applet always come back after u click no.So u cant continue on internet anymore and have to shut explorer by Ctrl+alt+delete.

Is there a program for this?

You can also use a different browser like Opera. Check links in my sig. I dunno...maybe there are some spyware killers wich block this.

in ie, click tools|Internet Options, click security. Click custom level. disable active x controls.

well i tried disable activeX,and i cant load almost any pages:eek:
Most of the pages require activeX to appear, like 3dgamers.com and many other.

TheMajor > So are you trying to say that if I use Opera i wont get those applets a la Gain or gator??
And does it work with activeX too?

thanks,

i don't know anything about ActiveX but I know gmail doesn't work in Opera. I would just go with Opera because gmail is the only site wich for I had to start IE. I never got any installation requests with Opera....i usually got thousands of them on cracks sites but not with opera. I would just use opera and IF a site doesn't work, wich is very rare, u can always use IE.

installed it,and its nice:D
not only its faster than Explorer for browsing, but i get no pop-ups, and no installation applets!! Tried it on many sites,no troubles yet.

thanks for the link:cool:

The only reason you should get install pop-ups, is if the website you're visiting is using a technology or font that you don't have. IE gives you the oportunity to install, so that you can view the content. It doesn't ignore the content and hope that one day you'll realize that you're missing something.

If you install the technology/fonts, then of course you won't be bothered again, but only for that particular piece of technology/font. If you don't want to install the technology, you have some options. IE won't blatantly expect that you don't want anything. If it's a font, you can choose (right on the dialog) to not install any fonts at any time. If it's a technology, you can do the same (in most builds). There are options under the "Miscilanious" section in security for handling download prompts. The activeX options only pertain to activeX controls.

If you turned off the activeX functions, and you're getting slow performance, it's usually because either the browser or site is asking for page information, or the site has an activeX control (usually a DB formatting control).

I'm not sure what Opera does with web technologies it finds. If it's just ignoring them, that's not good. If it's downloading them and installing without you knowing, that's not good either. I'm sure there's some options for customizing your browsing "experience" in Opera, since it's supposedly a fully-fledged browser platform.

good to know, but does this include the "gain" and "gator" applets? And even the Dialers applets, casino stuff, and other junk of this kind?
There are many different, you know, those you need to select yes or no.And sometimes they dont disappear unless you click yes,but its probably something unwanted like a virus or what not.

But i dont know yet about the missing fonts/techs like ure talking about.I hope it asks if you want to get it.More the time advance, more "technologies' are available to get ..Im gonna read about it.

But since Opera doesnt overwrite explorer,i can still use explorer,so maybe if i get some new technologies with IE,Opera would "detect" it,and be able to use it,or even put it in an update .Like i said ,gonna read a lil more about this.I was impressed by the increase of browsing speed, and the integrated pop-up blocker. It looks nice, lot of cool features/options.
And who knows, since explorer is the main browser, maybe "pirates" will still be busy trying to create security holes and unwanted stuff into explorer, while the unpopulars ones would still safe.Im thinking of a a comparison like windows/linux
