K, I got a BSOD of 101 and 1A. As i understand it, 1A is a memory management problem.

I was up to IMC 1.22 when this happened, after a few passes of Linx. It gave me the 1A after I rebooted, going into Windows.

I'm down to 1.16 now

Edit: Now have IMC up to 1.3, where we originally started. Now I get more crap.

BSOD's:
0x0124 (known)
0x01A
0x0101
0x0A
0x03B

Windows otherwise works fine until I put Linx to it. :umm:

I also have a i5, but 750, and I'm following this for when I try to put OC it to 4GHz this weekend. Just to make it clear, are you trying to OC to 4GHz or 4.2GHz?
Good luck with that ;)

I was fine with 4GHz, but Soul made me stretch for 4.2.

I'll see if lowering the multiplier to 20, and lowering the voltages, becomes more stable.

Edit: Yeah, I lowered the multiplier to 20. Set CPU voltage to 1.325, IMC to 1.3. I'll continue modifying that, see how far i can get down on the volts. on 4.01316Ghz now. ;)

I currently do it with 20 passes. That is when I had BSODs earlier.
It would BSOD randomly.

Once you get it fine tuned, getting close to home, then you would do longer lapses.

Yeah, I'm currently lowering the CPU Voltage by 0.00625 and IMC Voltage by 0.2 after each Linx 20 pass run.

See how low I can get and still be safe.

Ok. Let me know how you end up :)
Sorry for all the questions but trying to keep up, Don't know much about OC ;)

Alrighty, after a 30 minute run with no errors, my settings are:

CPU ratio (multiplier): 20
CPU Voltage: 1.29375v
ICM: 1.22v

i5 760 @ 4.01318MHz

I think this is a very safe voltage range. According to Slay.

Ask away, dude! :)

WOW, I have no clue what you guys are talking about, but It sounds interesting. Is this done to upgrade your processor speed? Sorry to be such a newbie, but this is how Ill have to learn.

Questions:

Do you change clock speed to help with graphics/performance
Is this something for the novice to understand/try
Is it necesary when upgrading for gaming
can it be done on any computer
