Hey Everyone!

Im new to the forums so wanted to start by saying hello

Ok basically I built a rig a long time ago (about 5 years) and ALOT has changed since than so I need alot of advice. I know some stuff about building but far from where you guys are im sure. I will be using this computer for primarily editing video in sony vegas pro 9 and a good amount of gaming.

This is what I have so far im def. not married to it I just wanted some knowledgeable people to take a look for compatibility and suggestions on what I should change. Thank you in advance! and I look forward to posting here

EditI forgot to mention id like to get the price down a little but but not sacrifice too much power. Lack of knowledge is making this difficult cause im not sure what to move around the only thing I def. want to keep is the CPU but if you guys can build a better rig suited for me around $1000 please go ahead I need all the help I can get heh

I would look into a newer monitor, the one you linked does not have a DVI connection (looking at the connectors on your video card its the white one). Although your video card appears to come with a DVI to VGA converter, there is no reason not to spend $10 more to simplify your life.
I also assume you get better quality with a DVI-out to DVI-in than a DVI-out /Converter/ VGA-in, though I could be assuming too much.

New to this gaming stuff as well... But I KNOW you can find a better monitor (20-in 720pi) for less. I found one for $89.99, not at newegg.

yeah I hear ya James thanks for the advice ill look around to be honest monitor is least of my worries right now....I want a real nice rig for like 1100 or so and im just so lost after 2 days of reading and comparing i came here before I lost my sanity lol

Hey whats up abstract sweet avatar lol

my budget is like $1000 - $1200 it can sway in that area TOPS would be 1300 with shipping I really don't wanna exceed that. problem is im using a laptop currently so I need the works I have a mouse and thats about it, also as far as the sound card if im doing minor music editing in like fruity loops will not having it affect that in any way?

Thanks so much for the help dude its greatly appreciated

Thanks
Without the sound card your looking pretty good. With a monitor that's a good build in that budget.
Though someone else might point something out.

Thanks man looks like my research payed off only thing I was unsure about was the mobo is it a decent one for the ram and video card I picked out?
