Looking For Advice on My Current Build

This is a bit of a hijack but would the mobo+cpu described in the thread be better then an i7 950 and a sabertooth x58? Of course this is without over clocking as a consideration. And channels are how many RAM cards (I think they are DIMMs?) are in the mobo. If this is so does this mean the mobo+Cpu support quad channel?

No, the i7 1366 chips are clock per clock faster... The only advantage is it has 6 real cores verses the i7s 4 real and 4 "fake" cores, and its cheaper.

AMD runs dual channel ram,

So each core runs 2 threads but is technically still one core for each double thread. while the x6 is 6 single thread cores? Also what is a thread? Solving a problem with an answer unknown to me, I know its werid.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies!

So, I've changed up my build a bit, here's my current one. I think it's pretty solid, and it's perfectly at my price limit :D

What I've Changed: Mem to same price but better performance, upgraded mobo, replaced Raptor with a SSD, and changed my CPU cooler.

I just changed the SSD, and it seems like it's a pretty good one, so any advice on that would be great!

Any more feedback? Thanks!

Just a heads up on the case. I have the same case and some things I do not care for. For one, to remove one hard drive, you have to remove 8 thumb screws. I really don't care for the PSU being mounted on bottom either, that is just my opinion though. One thing I do like is being able to control the case fans separately.

For the cooler, I have the NH-D14 and it keeps my i7 920@4.2ghz in the low 40's at idle. This cooler is big though. The Antec 1200 is just barely deep enough for this cooler. This may be out of your price range.

Nice choice on the GPU and PSU.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you think that the NH-D14 would be necessary for my build? I could definitely buy it, but do I need it?
