feel free to add or subtract whatever. im kind of out of the loop but I'm pretty sure thats all compatible. If you can cut corners anywhere let me know. the first build I had planned came to like 790 without shipping so I've already lowered it quite a bit.

This is a killer combo, but it would edge you just over what you want to pay, especially when you add a cooler and a keyboard:
* AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor (Model: HDZ965FBGMBOX)
* ASUS EVO AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD Motherboard (Model: M4A87TD)
* GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card (Model: GV-N460OC-1GI)
* G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Model: F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM)
* Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (Model: WD5001AALS)
* SAMSUNG 22x DVD+/-R CD/DVD Burner Black SATA (Model: SH-S223C) - OEM
* COOLER MASTER HAF 922 Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (Model: RC-922M-KKN1-GP)
* CORSAIR 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply (Model: CMPSU-650TX)

Combo Discount: -$70.91
Combo Price: $747.00
$717.00 after $30.00 Mail-In Rebate(s)

Better CPU, better mobo, better RAM, faster hard drive, better PSU, better case.

Just a note: EVGA isn't doing lifetime warranties on most of the Fermi cards... or even a bunch of their other new cards. Nvidia seems to have dropped XFX due to them putting out ATI/AMD cards. Sparkle is the only one offering lifetime warranty across the board on Nvidia now. XFX and VisionTek offer lifetime warranties on ATI/AMD cards.

What do you plan on doing? There's probably some sort of graphics compromise to be made if you're not a hard-core gamer. Although I would suggest off the bat a HD 6850: Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
Here's a combo for the PSU and case to save you some $$: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
Alternatively, consider this GPU and CPU combo to shave off $100: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
I'd suggest going SSD. You could tack on an SSD easily with the money saved on that combo ^ and the realized performance would increase dramatically. Then change that HDD to a 640GB Caviar Black: Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6402AAEX 640GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
There are better HSFs than that for the price. Check this out: Newegg.com - XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible you have to double-check that it would fit in the case. At 159mm tall this is a big HSF.
That should just about do the trick. Combo deals are the best thing since sushi (I like sushi).
Wow. Two other people replied as I was typing this.

after doing some reading around some other threads, i found another site that has a store near me.

so I've changed a few things..

case:
antec three hundred
50$ ($20 less than newegg)
Micro Center - Antec Three Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case THREE HUNDRED

psu:
ocz modstream 600w
$45 ($25 cheaper than newegg)
Micro Center - OCZ Technology ModXStream Pro 600W Modular ATX Power Supply OCZ600MXSP

video:
evga 460gtx
$165 ($45 cheaper than newegg)
Micro Center - EVGA GeForce GTX460 SuperClocked PCIe 2.0 x16 Video Card 768-P3-1362-AR

All in all that saves around $90.
I think I'm able to bump up my OEM cpu to this for an extra $17 now:
Micro Center - AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Boxed Processor 927459
which is even 5$ less than newegg.

^ lol, i guess the man likes his Antec cases.

Why get an Athlon? when Phenom is better for about the same price. What trotter recommended had much more quality and speed than all the parts you picked with just a bit more money
