GPU Upgrade for Gaming

Right now I have two Saffire Radeon HD 3870's in Crossfire. For the games I'm playing they work well. However, in looking to upgrade I'm looking at possibly going w/ a single 5770 or 4870. It appears that one of those cards would outperform both of my 3870's. My question is, would I gain any performance by Crossfiring one of my 3870's w/ one of the above mentioned upgrades, or would it be better to stick w/ the one 5770/4870?

a 4870 or 5770 would be a little better, but not really by a large enough margin to consider them upgrades.

and you cannot crossfire a 3870 with a 4870 or 5770, that's just not gonna work.

What about 2 5770's or a 4870 X2? Would they be noticeable upgrades?

2 5770s is roughly the performance of a 5870 and would your best option. If you cant afford that then a single 5770.
