Recently got a Gigabyte 5850, I have ran into a few problems.
I did some searching couldn't really find any help.

When I overclock the card the memory becomes stuck at full speed
and doesn't underclock for power saving/ or what ever the reason.
I imagine this cant be good for the card, also the manual fan speed
doesn't work.

I can get the core clock to max in ccc stable, but if i touch the memory
at all it fails. The screen goes black, I was reading that I might need to
bump up my voltage. I downloaded Afterburner and changed settings in
the config but was unable to change the voltage.

Is there anyway I could up the voltage without voiding my warranty?

first of all, if you over clock your card, in anyway, and the manufacturer can prove that you over clocked it, you have voided your warranty.

if you over clock your graphics card, the core or the memory, it will stay at that overclock 24/7, there is no power saving mode ( that im aware of )

to control the fan speed you need to click the " enable Manual Fan Control " check box

and to adjust the voltage in MSI Afterburner you need to go to : mycomputer>Local Disk C>program files X86> MSI Afterburner>MSI Afterburner.cfg file

open that file with notepad, scroll to the bottom and where it says :

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 0

change that to

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1

and save the file

then go to MSI Afterburner and go to settings and check the box that says " unlock voltage control " and apply

close MSI afterburner and re-open it and you are good to go

with all that said dont go crazy with the voltage, like id say 1.200 volts is the max you should go with the stock cooler, any more than that its going to get HOT and LOUD

and dont stress about the memory speed, that really doesnt have any effect on gaming at all, its all about the core speed.
