Icons changes to unknown on laptop

Hi techy people sup
Long story short, I was playing with my bro last night via 2 laptops on network and everything was normal. But suddenly after we were done, he found out that my computer, my documents, and some other desktop icons and shortcuts and also all folders and partitions, changed to unknwon files ( Like unknwon .dat files of games installed ) If you need a picture I can get one. Also one icon on taskbar changed to that, which I believe is one of the apps which has the unknown icon
Little help is needed please.
Also we just noticed that avira antivirus free is refusing to start the real time shield.
This problem doesn't happen in safe mode.
I think it could be fixed by a windows reinstall but I want least effort possible. windows reinstall takes some time.
I tried system restore but problem is still there.

I think you have a virus or malware. Get and run Malwarebytes.

Thanks themajor! I changed colour from 32-bit to 16-bit then back to 32-bit and problem is now gone!
