If he can get his 980 up to 5GHz and overvolt the crap out of his 480's he can take him. For a little while at least. But he'll have to have it max'ed out.

A very good point Slay. Then I guess I'll just have to go LN2 on the CPU... I've found a way to unlock the 5970 core frequency, so that should pay off once I get my secondary 5970 back from RMA.

I thought for watercooling lapping generally isn't recommended?
That's certain waterblocks you aren't supposed to (they are slightly convex, so when it's in place on the motherboard it's flat, if it's lapped it'll be flat, then bent from there and won't make perfect contact). Don't know which ones though...
 
that looks fine, id stand the radiator up the other way so it sticks out above your case, you will get better airflow that way.
