I often have multiple applications open at one time, such as web browsing, streaming video, ventrilo, game playing. i see you adopted my format...

but here is my build

it has an AMD 1055T 6 core processor, an ATI Radeon 5870, most recent Generation Motherboard, 4 gigs of 1600 DDR3 memory, a 64 gig SSD and a CPU cooler to overclock this beastly 6 core processor, it also has a case that has absolutely amazing airflow and features for the price, i did a quick google search and 80% sure the 5870 will fit in it, someone might have to confirm... i am actually very proud of this build... for $35 more, my build is better...

Good build Shawn and the formatting of course it looks 10 times better your way!!

Poster stated he is using this for MMO/gaming (random gaming programs) I don't really think a 6 core processor is worth the $$. I went with the 5850 and the upgraded mobo for a full 16x PCI lane x2. In essence by saving the $$ now he can buy another 5850 (which should be much cheaper in a month) and really have GREAT performance running at 16x2. Not to mention I believe the voltage control is unlocked on that 5850 as well allowing OC to 5870 (dont quote me). The 5870 should fit in that case barely but it should fit. Your board (correct me if I am wrong) would have to run 16x and 8x in a duel card setup. ... ... .. but the more I think about it the end user would probably never see the diffrence so this was a mute point.

My SSD is bigger as well and since I am assuming the user wants an MMO utilizing SSD I went with a larger drive to help with load times in zones, startup ect. Your cooler is better (I know next to nothing about good coolers), and I LIKE that case!!

OP choose or mix and match both these builds are solid and will play MMO's with ease shoot probably any game out there at the moment will be played with ease. My only suggestion is to get a full tower case. I am very big proponent of having enough room and airflow in my cases and room to work. Of course they cost more so its up to you cheers

benchmarks have shown that 16x and 8x for crossfire and SLI really doesnt hurt anything at all.

and as far as the case, the NZXT is my *FAVORITE* case... if i didnt have my HAF X, i would get that case... it has superp airflow, black interrior, wire manament holes, its screaming to be modded and i love moding cases... it really is the little case that could.

I would go with the 5870 as well, I have one and it is awesome. The 5850 cannot be overclocked to 5870 performance because the 5850 is not the same core (it has less shader processors, it may be possible to unlock them but not by simply overclocking it). I don't know if I'd put a 1TB in a gaming PC, personally I would recommend keeping storage drives in a separate server PC so that your files are accessible even when you are working on your desktop. I would recommend re-purposing an old desktop (or possibly even laptop) for storage. If you only have one PC then keeping your files on your desktop is fine but if you want to share files between many PC's (laptop, desktop, friends laptops', etc) a server is good. I would recommend a fast (7200RPM or better) 500-640GB drive such as a WD Caviar Black. Since your SSD is only 64GB you'll still want a fast HDD to load games and other content you can't fit on the SSD. In fact, with your budget I can't say I'd recommend an SSD at all, I am quite happy with my 640GB WD Caviar Black OS/data drive in my i7 build.

yea with the Gamma and M59 cases, you either love the way they look or absolutely hate them. i really really like them! like i said if i didnt have my HAF X i would get a NZXT Gamma. the features to price ratio is phenomenal!

Since your SSD is only 64GB you'll still want a fast HDD to load games and other content you can't fit on the SSD. In fact, with your budget I can't say I'd recommend an SSD at all, I am quite happy with my 640GB WD Caviar Black OS/data drive in my i7 build.

im going to have to disagree with you there Calc. an OS will only take up 40 gigs max, and that will leave you with plenty of space for a few games and applications.
