my family is looking for a replacement of there general pc we are replacing an ibm we got for free years ago

it will just be used for web surfing.facebook games,email and to manage checkbook with quicken it also serves as the home base for our home network its connected to our router and printer

we are on a fixed budget thought the absolute max would be 400 dollars of course would like to spend as little as possible would like to be able to get a monitor with this also but know that might be stretching it

overall just want something thats going to be reliable and thats atleast is an upgrade in overall performance and would prefer something that came with a version of windows xp

WOW!!!! OLD PC. You could get a desktop for approx $300 or so that would blow that thing out of the water. Just look at your local best buy type store in your area. Building your own at that price and with the components you need probably won't happen. Again nothing is impossible but it might take some serious deal hunting and of course reusing the monitor, keyboard, and mouse you already have
