*edit*
just realised that the CPU downclocked itself to 4X multi when I did the screenshot. Not sure why, since I disabled cool'n'quiet and C1E (which should have worked with the new BIOS).

It was using 22X multiplier in the test.

I did use K10stat to set it to 4.5GHz, but after I ran 3d06 and looked at CPU-Z it said 4.4GHz
Maybe K10stat didn't set it properly, or maybe it changed P-states? It may have been running at 4.5 some of the time, and/or some of the cores...... I don't know.

Win7 does get lower CPU scores than XP though (but often higher GPU scores).

I've run the CPU at ~1.73V before. The main thing is it heats up fast when under load, even with water - it takes about a second to go from 20ºC to 30ºC, and that's probably what causes instability.
Sometimes running at lower volts increases stability due to there being less heat.

I like this 890FXA-UD7 board. It doesn't suffer vdroop like my M4AA79XTD-EVO board does. It also doesn't have a limit of 1.7V
The NB speed is stable 24/7 at 2.8GHz on this. It wouldn't even POST at that speed in the old board.

Haven't really played around with RAM timings yet since the board change (still at 6-8-6-18 1T)

dang those are some nice clocks Apok, for both the cpu and gpu. is the 5870 under water too?

have you ever used some more extreme cooling?

The 5870 has the stock (reference) cooler. I turned the fan speed to 100%, and I also put a big floor fan next to the system at full blast.

I'd like to try LN2. Problem is it costs money...
