I'm looking to upgrade my computer by changing to a better processor. Just want to know if my motherboard EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard is compatible with the processor Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 Yorkfield 2.83GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80580Q9505

I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80557E6600 in my computer but it's been a longtime since I've worked on a computer and want to make sure I don't mess something up.

If there is anything else that would help along with the cpu or if there is a better route to go for the same amount of performance increase, any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

No it won't, the 680i chipset can NOT use 45nm quads

Presler, Smithfield, Cedarmill and Prescott family processors are not fully tested on the 6 series motherboards.

Yorkfield Core 2 Quad processors are not supported on the 6 series motherboards.

** The latest BIOS update is necessary to run Wolfdale Core 2 processors

I'm glad you mentioned that, didn't know for sure if that mattered or not. Do you have any good suggestions of a good replacement?
