that specific asus got some preatty bad reviews on NBR cause there is some isane issue with the 5870 but to day there does not seem to be a single 5870 that works fine
dell is curently pushing GPUbios upgrade and all sort of things out for thier alienware line up since nbr got on the project of getting a system that works properly from them we even have a dell rep that makes direct contact from that forum to the enginering we have seen some good move in the good direction but even then as of yet the system will likely not work right out of the box
