Graphics Performance List

Because it's in the mid-range of the current generation, as opposed to the high-end of the previous generation. Newer tech, means it uses less power, and thus puts out less heat, but still offers around the same performance.

Or, it can offer more performance, but at the same power use as the previous generation. Compare HD4870 and HD5870.

So, Let me get this straight
The 5770 compares to the 4770, only the new generation card will produce less heat & use less power

Assuming you meant HD4870 instead of HD4770, yes.
Because the HD5xxx series uses a 40nm process as opposed to the 55nm process of the HD48xx series (simplified? smaller thus more efficient transistors), it creates less heat, and thus can be clocked higher. Since each transistor is smaller they can fit more on each chip, meaning there are more shaders etc. and other improvements also improve performance.

;)

I actually meant a 4770.
In your previous post you told me to compare 5870 with 4870, so I Figured 5770 would compare to a 4770?

*shrug* I've just confused myself now  Umm... I'll leave it to someone else for now :p

Apart from the lower heat and power, the 5xxx series also scales better in xfire than the older 4xxx series.
At stock the 5770 will get you 0-5% less performance than the 4870, however you can get more performance out of the 5770 by OCing it than you can out of a 4870, which puts the 5770 on par or even on top of the 4870 in some scenarios.
The 5770 also supports more features, and will be more future proof as well.

Get the 5770 ;)

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

LOL, its funny to see.

My mom/dad got me the ATI radion 9800pro for xmas when I was in 6th grade. it was 500$... I still have it.

Should ad the 460 and 5830. 460 I believe falls under 470 but above 4850x2. and 5830 should be just below the 460 from research, but the 460 is a real big deal and should be added soon.
