I'm just looking for some general advice on the components I'm choosing and hopefully someone could warn me if I've been a complete idiot. Now normally I like using Newegg because their customer support is outstanding, but sadly this is getting shipped to California which would mean a 8.75% sales tax on everything :(, so I'm trying my best to find the parts elsewhere. Anyway, I'm open to comments, suggestions, etc.

Yea but the difference is that with amazon etc, because they are not based in California, you don't pay any sales tax. While that build looks really nice, especially the idea of the 6 core CPU, it would add another 110 bucks to the build and its a pretty solid budget. Though do you think the 1055T would be worth it if I stuck to the MB I had originally, and just got cheaper ram and a cheaper Palit GTX460?

Well it all depends. The #1 thing i would say to make sure you do is get a AM3 socket so u can upgrade to at least the bulldozer when it comes out next year. I was trying to give you the best bang for your buck. That motherboard is really good and there is not that many good SLI boards for AMD especially TRI SLI lol. Make sure you get at least a 955. Its a tough choice if your going to just game just get the 955. From a 955 to a 1055t its $45 more so its up2 u if its worth the upgrade. It not too big of a differance but i just like the future-proofing for not a big gap.

Ram wise you arnt going to find much cheaper tha $95 for 4 gigs of 1600 ram

Make sure you get a high quality motherboard IMO though thats why i chose the 159 one its a good SLI board. Build for you to upgrade later though

If you want the stuff from somewhere else. Digerdirect is based in chicago

also does it matter if its ATI or do you want NVidia? The reason I'm asking is as said previously alot of the AMD board you cant do SLI just crossfire

You also could make my build cheaper by getting the case in ur build

Well first of all thanks for the advice. And it honestly doesn't matter whether its an NVIDIA or ATI card, but I was just looking at the most recent benchmarks and tests and a lot of the reviewers are hailing the GTX 460 as some sort of bang for your buck messiah, though i guess a 5830 would be somewhat comparable. And the main reason I was looking at that motherboard was that A. its an AM3 board, but it also supports USB 3.0 and SATA 6gb/s which is nice for the future proofing department. And I'll look into tigerdirect, thanks.

Yea I don't know what I said up there about the RAM, but with the $10 off code on newegg they come to 92 bucks which I think is great for a 7-8-7-24 set of DDR3 1600 RAM. And thanks SOOOOO much for finding that video card, I've been looking everywhere for a decent deal on one of those, I guess I just searched the other EVGA model... Though at this point I've been having some second thoughts about the GTX 460 and thinking of just getting a $200 5830 and a $130 CF supporting MB because there aren't any AMD SLI boards with USB 3.0, etc and the CF would give a nicer upgrade path. Thanks again guys.

the downside with AMD is you are stuck choosing Crossfire or SLI. I know they have a hack that will allow most board to support SLI but thats if you want to try it and there is no guarantee it will work. If you choose to go NVidia you need a good psu to support SLI in the future since they require more power. Otherwise ATI and Nvidia 5830 and 460 are on par with most things. Its up to you.

What types of game are u going to play?
