I have no clue

So today I was doing what I do best. I was on my laptop kidding time and then my screen was distorted and it shut down. I tried multiple times to restart but each time it wouldn't get farther than the welcome screen before it distorted and shut down again. I finally got mad enough that I took the battery out. I out it back in then it started fine. I'm not sure what is causing this. There are only 2 things I've done differently than I usually do. I downloaded a new soundtrack and I had to get a new charger because my dog chewed the original one. I got it off ebay but its legit. So again I have no clue. Any ideas?

I think you PSU and/or battery is bad.

With EBay, you never know if it is legit.

Distorted as in how exactly? Is the graphics drivers up to date? May be as mentioned, you psu/battery may be at fault, but I'm just clearing out the other issues.
