Num Lock problems

His laptop has the a number pad as a regular keyboard, so he's not talking about the function key combination.

Edit: My laptop doesn't have a defined num lock key but just the symbol on 1 of the F-key.

Ok. Not sure when I noticed it, just started happening one day. And no, it's not normal, I never used to have to turn the num lock off to type normal. The fn+num lock doesn't fix it.

I have the dv9000 laptop and never had problems leaving Num Lock on, it has a dedicated number pad so it should not remap any letter keys when Num Lock is enabled. I'm pretty sure the option isn't in the BIOS (there's next to nothing in there). Try pulling the battery and power cord, sometimes this fixes weird BIOS issues on mine or try resetting the BIOS to factory defaults (NOT a factory reinstall though...).

I tried the battery/power cord reset. didn't work. I'll try resetting BIOS in a few minutes.
