Acer Aspire 5735 monitor problems

Hi there. I am dealing with an Acer Aspire 5735 laptop. When powering on, I can see everything working on the laptop, but it is VERY, VERY dim. Pressing the fn + f6 buttons causes the screen to come to life, but only for a split second - it just flickers brighter then returns right back to the very dim screen. Could anyone give me some ideas on what could be causing this, and what I need to do to fix it? Many thanks!!

You might have a dying bulb... or power inverter. Both hard to replace... Bulbs not expensive, but the work is. Not sure on the inverter... last one i did was on a 7yo laptop.

Have you tried a regular monitor, to ensure its working fine?

Yes. It works fine with a different laptop. Could anyone direct me to a step-by-step on how to troubleshoot and/or fix the problem?

My apologies...it works fine with a different monitor plugged into it. Not with a different laptop.
