This question is on an old DELL I am repairing/upgrading for a friend. He wants more RAM on it and delete some viruses, which I did before I messed with the RAM.

His computer, and old Dell tower, uses SDRAM. I had some spare 512MB sticks laying around, found 2 of them. So I put it in, the Dell logo screen looks garbled up, and Windows XP Professional loads up slooooow. So I look at the old RAM. It's PC100. The RAM I had was PC133. IIRC, RAM would just clock down to the lowest speed. But I never remember hearing that on SDRAM, only DDR and up.

So, I think I have the wrong speed, correct?

Edit: If anyone can use this, the Serial number is: 7581X11. Could find nothing online about it, even DELL.
