Been everywhere the last couple days, so let me try to cover all the bases.

I needed to upgrade a PC with a DVD drive (IDE not SATA). It had not had a DVD drive in it prior to the swap. I swapped one out of my other PC and put it into the upgradee. The upgradee does not recognize the DVD drive meaning the power does work, but it does not show up in [My Computer]. It is not in the BIOS (as far as I can tell), it is not in the device manager.

Any suggestions?

edit: There has not been any software downloaded, installed, or uninstalled on the PC for quite some time.

Disregard, I made an elementary mistake. For anyone that also has this problem, make sure the jumper on the back of the drive is set to the right setting. In this case, mine was not set to master whilst only having 1 drive in the machine.

The computer I installed it on is a Dell Dimension 2400, from 2003. SATA wasn't really an option in that situation.
