Hi, I am a first timer to building PCs. I can't bring myself to buy another Dell, and I figured I am up for the challenge. (I've swapped out hard drives and hacked a few Tivos). I don't need a monitor or an OS. (I have a 22" wide-screen flat panel, and will be running Win 7).My new rig will be used for gaming and home video editing. I'd like to spend about $1k, and have no preference on the processor brand. I'll need a 1TB HD. I am not looking for a flashy case, just something quiet and cool. I am not looking for a Blu Ray drive, but will need a DVD burner drive. I figure 4-6gb RAM? Any suggestions/assistance will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Sean, this looks awesome, thanks! One question, will I see much performance improvement for video editing if I bump up to 6gb of RAM? I assume this is right 6gb choice: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM

Also, down the road I may add a Blu Ray burner. That shouldn't be a problem right?

Do I need a sound card or is it integrated?

the i5 used dual channel ram, so you go 2, 4, 8, or 16 gigs. and 4 gigs is plenty, DDR3 is so **** fast you will have a hard time using more than that.

and all you would need to do with a blu ray burner isunplug the old one and slide it in. no problems.

and no sound card is needed, its integrated.

the only other thing i would suggest is a CPU cooler, i didnt include one beacuse it would have gone over budget.
