Links to the actual components, there are a lot of different XMS3 memory kits. How much are you paying for 12GB and at what speed? With a 980X and watercooling I would get the fastest memory available and cut it down to 6GB. You can always add 6GB more if you really need it.

I have this memory and it's screaming fast and costly. It says out of stock but they should restock soon.

This doesn't look bad for the price.
Newegg.com - G.SKILL PI + Turbulence II 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model F3-16000CL6T-6GBPID

Those basic spec's are screaming for a SSD.

+1 for a SSD. especailly with your budget you have to throw in a 64gig SSD for a boot drive. and maybe a game or 2. nice build.

is there any reason you went with a 480 over a 5970?

You should just get 6 gigs of ram, you wont use more than that.

The 12GB stays. PhotoShop, and various video editing tools. I am down from 24GB.

480 for tri or quad SLI down the road. Future proofing myself.

That's a pretty pimp set up (One suggestion)
I would recommend getting an Intel SSD. They are better on wear and tear and will most definately last longer than any other SSD on the market.

I'm going kind of same route. Here's my set up. $3184.92. I still need to pick a case, cooling system and sound card. I already have my 6 monitors but those cost me about like $1300 with the stands and everything. So basically $5,000 for my computer system from scratch.

I would recommend getting two SSD's of the same size so you can RAID 0 that ****. No need to worry about longevity with those babies.

Oh wow true. I totally didn't even take into consideration Raid 0. Yeah I'm probably now going to get 2 80GB SSD's instead of the 1 160GB SSD. Awesome suggestion thanks:p I am close to finishing off the final touches of my system. When I do I would love some peoples insight on it:D
