USB Not working with memory sticks "USB device not recognized"

I have a Acer Aspire 5100, i am having trouble with USB Memory drives, i can connect any other device like my usb game controller, or my USB mouse and it will detect it fine and install all necessary drivers, i have tried updating the bios to the newest version, it did it when i was using windows xp pro and xp home, and now i am using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and it still gives me the "usb not recognized" error.

edit: also i tries using different memory sticks and they all worked on my desktop.

Have you tried reinstalling your chipset drivers?

Try going to your manufacturer site, and see if they have any updated drivers for the OS, I had the same problem for months with my sound, until I found out that I needed to reinstall the drivers with a full download from the site.

when i had windows xp i tried updating to the newest chipset drivers, and it still did not work, also there is no updated driver for windows 7, as windows 7 is not really supported for this model
