GeForce 6800 Ultra Vs. Radeon 9800 pro

Alright guys and gals I'm torn on which vid card to get.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra or the Radeon 9800 Pro. I just cant decide so i was wondering what your opinions on the two are. Any input is usefull. THANKS!!

eVGA 6800 GT overclock it to an Ultra speed. Otherwise the 6800 Ultra would dominate the 9800 pro completely.

Just curious myself, as I'm looking into updating my rig early next year.

he means that the 6800 already tromps the 9800. but, to save some money, but the cheaper 6800 GT and overclock it to end up with a 6800 Ultra. the 9800 was out of the question when he mentioned 6800.

Now, a ATI x800 whatever might be good if you want an ATI card. but I personally am an Nvidia guy anyways.

P.S. i have my plain 6800 OV'd to Ultra specs. 420mhz core, 256 DDR3 @ 1.1ghz, and softmodded to 16 pipes. works like a champ.

Without a doubt, get the 6800GT. The 9800 Pro, although still delivers solid performance in games such as Doom 3, is starting to show its age. The 6800GT walks all over the 9800 series and the X800 Pro. Now if you were talking about getting an X800XT P.E., it would be a little bit more difficult of a decision, but I'd still say go with the 6800 because of SM3.0 capability, which is going to become more of a commonplace within the next 6 months.

Not really a good comparision, considering the 9800 series is a over a years old. It should be 6800 ultra vs x800 xt. However, that topic has been discussed over and over. If your a doom 3, far cry, world of warcraft fan then go with nvidia. If your a half-life fan then go with the ati. If your going for ati, my suggestion is go for the x800 xt, not the 9800, just for future proof.
