K7 triton GA-7N400 Pro2 Can't get an OS loaded

I'm helping a friend build a computer with a K7 Triton GA-7N400 Pro 2 motherboard. But I can't get an OS to load. I've tried to change the CD-Roms, OS disks, and OS itself, with the same result. The os install goes on to the point where it starts copying files, then gives an errror that it cannot copy file.whatever, and the install halts. Also, sometimes I get a blue screen of death just after the cannot copy file error. Some times it goes to 65% some times less. Also, it doesn't always halt on the same file either. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

Two things you want to make sure here:

1) Is your hard drive formatted?
2) Make sure the RAM is not defective. My friend had a similar problem as you, and a new RAM did him good.

Hard drive checks out okay, I'm in the process of checking the RAM now.

Yep, you were right, it was a bad stick of ram. So far my os is loading successfully...

This is a very common issue. The installation cannot handle the high frequency and/or low latencies of the module.
