I bought a noctua NH-D14 and i thought i was ok.... but apparently i wasnt. Until asus sends my backplate to me in a few days, will the stock cooler be sufficent for now? Phenom II X4.

Yeah. Don't worry about overclocking until you get the backplate, though.

Alrighty thanks. Hopefully my dealings with asus will be as simple as this question was.

Yea, i figured that a $229.99 board would have come with back plate. And i thought it was funny that the noctua came with a intel bracket and mounting hardware, but no bracket for amd, only the mounting hardware. I pleasantly asked Asus to get my bracket to me asap, and after a some heckling i got them to send it in a priority mail envelope. I mean i hate being even a little rude to customer service cause its not their fault, but i did pay a premium for their flagship board... it should come with a back plate.

i agree, and so should the Noctua.

but they took care of it and all will be well, you will be on your way to stellar temps in no time
