Suggested GPU for My Build

Hey Everyone!

I'm building a budget rig, but one that has some potential to be decent. Thus far, I have:

AMD Phenom II x4 965
Cooler Master V8 Cooler
MSI 785GTM-E45 (simple board for now, but down the line I'll upgrade it, I promise)
OCZ 700W Power Source
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB HD
24x DVD-RW Combo Drive
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

I should have enough room on the mobo to place a decent sized GPU, since I only have the one PCIe x16 slot. But, I'm looking for a good GPU.

Any ideas?

without knowing your budget, and basing on what you have already spent, i would go with a 5850, 5870, 5970 ( if you have $700 to blow on a graphics card ), nivida 470 or 480...


those aer all the top dog graphics cards at the moment

Yea, I'm looking for a few ideas at different price ranges. I'm not going to be running multiple monitors, but I still want quality.

The GTX 480 is the best nVidia graphics card out right now.

I would get the AMD 955 instead. You can easily OC it to the 965 speed by increasing the multiplier.

It all depends on the money you have for the GPU. What's your budget?

Minimum i would get would be a ATI 5770 1GB for a proper gaming rig, and as stated, depending on budget, higher models.

HD5770 is a great card. you will play crysis on max settings with no aa or af. That is a pretty good achievement for its price.
