Hey guys,

So this is my first time building my own pc and was hoping to get some feedback/critisism on it, as my previous "pc" was a Sager NP9262 laptop but, as its starting to age it has turned into a class note taking laptop instead of a gaming and note taking one. Anways, instead of hearing my whole life story onto the build....

By rate do you mean on a scale of 0 to 100? lol welll id give it a solid 85 out of 100.
It could be higher if that i5 were a higher rated more powerful i7 (or six core i7) and that RAM had a lower latency and better timings. Dont get me wrong here that system could play just about any game out there on the highest settings..excellent system though good job

Lol I see what you mean, by rate I mean like... instead of this PCU I would use this one, etc... pretty much the cpu and gpu are set but im open to suggestions on everything else... if that clarifies things :p

yes...

ALSO, fr some reason this benchmark shows the 470 better then the 5870, but it also shows the 5870 faster than the 5970.... i call shenaniganz

Hey, ya I just spent the last hour or so looking at benchmakrs for 470 vs 5870 and my conclusion is: 5870 blows the 470 out of the water... I used Nvidia GeForce GTX 480/470 vs. ATI Radeon HD 5870/5850 - TechSpot as my comparison.

As for the i5 750 vs i7 920 (heard those 2 cards take best to being overclocked)... my original plan was to overclock the i5 to like 3.4? I don't really have a need for more then that...but i've seen posts of people getting 3.8 on air while ive also seen people getting 4.4 on air with the i7.

i have a AMD 965 black edition quad core processor. i have been kicking my self every day since i got this computer cause i didnt go with an i7. i highly reccomend you do what ever you have to do ( switch funds around on components, or save for a bit longer ) and get an i7 and a 5870. with that, your rig will be truly unstoppable.

Stick with te 1156 unless you want to get the best intel chip out. Your plan to OC the i5 is perfect, and is what alot of tech experts suggest too.

Unless you are doing heavy multi tasking, the quad core i7s won't make much difference.

All Sean does is ***** about his amd black, and tells everyone to get a i7 920. Well thats basically saying his porsche isn't good, buy a lambo. Not everyone wants to spend, or has a small e-*****, to want an unstoppable rig.
The i7 1366s aren't really needed by 85% of users, and the i5 can pretty much match a daily clock as the i7.

IF you go for a 5870, definately drop your psu to 700W ish, 850W if you ever plan to xfire it. Even the 1000W is high for a single 470.

i agree, i say stick with the i5 750 and OC that ish. just because it's not getting an uber 1337 score on some benchmark, doesn't mean that it isn't a good cpu.

if you want to increase gaming potential, you could even move around a couple things and switch the cpu out for a x4 955 to stick a 5870 in your build, that is if you can't afford a 5870 + an i5 750.

btw, i think there's something wrong with your links since i get errors from all of em.
