Error when Converting from FAT32-> NTFS

For some reason whenever i try to convert my Extrenal 500GB Transcend StoreJet it wont work. heres what i get, any help would be wonderful, i don't want to have to reformat this drive, its got my folder with all 158GB of the Lion King in there ;)

GParted requires you to reformat.

Did you do like the command prompt suggested, and instead of just running Chkdsk, use the /f flag? Use both the /r and /f switches to make sure the drive is good/ready.
