Upgrading GPU and CPU, compatibility and such.

So I plan on getting a CPU and GPU combo from Newegg to upgrade my current set up, which is

this but with this and this.

So I want to be assured that this works.

The CPU is AM3 while I have a motherboard with a AM2, but from what I've read it seems like AM3 cpu's are compatible with AM2 motherboards.

I'm also wondering how much heat that kind of graphic card would give out, currently my computer runs at about 60c when gaming so I'm pretty sure it should also be cool enough.

for most am2 mobos, yes an am3 cpu would be compatible with a bios update. but you have an hp, and the mobos they use have a smaller, much more specific list of cpus that you can upgrade to.

i'm not sure, but i guess you could try contacting hp and see what they say about what cpus you can upgrade to before you buy a new one.

regarding the gfx card though, yea that will work. your mobo has the appropriate slot and your psu would be more than capable of powering that card.

Use SYSPREP to move your hard drive/installation.
