Compaq presario f700

Someone gave me a compaq presario f700 and its having issues. When you turn it on, it gets no video and you can see that its on because the keyboard and etc lights up and than after a couple of seconds it goes right back off. I have tried removing the cmos battery, ram and also hooked it up to a monitor and still received no video. I believe it has a bad mobo, but I noticed that when powering on the laptop the cpu fan never even engages/spins, could it be that the fan has went out and a fail safe is for the computer to shut its self down?

The fan is probably dead. Get a new one, and see if it improves. The computer not turning on is normally a PSU or RAM problem.

oh it turns on but i get no visual and it turns off after a few seconds, I ran the ram through memtest and passed so its not that. I could try another charger, looks like I will order the fan and go from there.
