My external hardrive wont open up

I have a simpledrive 1tb external hardrive and when i plug it into my computer it keeps asking me to format it when all my files are in there, i cant afford to format it because the files in my old computer are already deleted is there a way i can access it without formatting it?

Have you tried different computers? Different ports?

Sounds like the partition may have been lost.

I had this problem myself. The partition can not be read sometimes. Try to find out if another computer CAN read it, then back up, and reformat it.

Yup i've tried it on 2 other computers

Try using a Linux LiveCD such as Ubuntu to boot off of, and then try to access the drive that way.

This is a good suggestion. I've had a lot of luck recovering data using Linux live cds.
