Help connecting IDE DVD drive

So it sounds like I need to buy an adaptor or use a different PC to test it?

I don't know if there is an adapter for it, this is an old technology.

Did you pull this off a laptop? If from a desktop, how was it connected?

DVD-116ME

Is the model for the drive I'm trying to test. It uses and IDE connector on the back.

My PC currently uses a ND 6650A

This is what it looks like: http://www.sunvalleyus.com/shop/UploadPhotos/95-24031-002.jpg

Are you saying that the Dell XPS 200 desktop has the ND 6650A currently installed? From what I have found online, that is a notebook drive with the IDE/ATAPI interface. Why would a desktop have a notebook drive in it?

And the model DVD-116ME has the ATAPI interface which I believe is different than IDE.

You CURRENTLY have this one?

No, the other way around.

It comes with a notebook drive because the XPS 200 was designed to be an ultra comact desktop.
It suffers from excess heat which causes it to sound like a jet engine if you overwork the CPU too much.

My laptop has the same exact drive too.
