messed up pic e slot possible

alright i think ive figured out what the problem is im pretty sure my 16 pci slot is fryed out or cause ing problems im rma the video card to make sure its not the card

when i run my 5770 in the top pci e slot it freezes and crashes when i play games but when i run it in the bottom pic e slot it runs fine top is X16 bottom is X8

I would say the slot is bad. I've seen this problem with PCI and IDE slots back in the 98 days.

k so ive narrowed it down to my mother board cause the problem but now my question is how do i get my second pci e slot to run at X16 instead of X8 or cant i for a ASUS M4A78T-E Motherboard

I don't think there is a way. You would need a new board.

well im gonna send it in for repairs and im probably gonna order a new board one of amds 890fx ones
