do a repair-install of the operating system, by booting with the XP CD and going to set up, but instead when it tells you, press r to repair the installation instead
"Boot sector corrupt/missing"

Yeah A repair install would work but u'd still have all the spyware and virus infections
Wow, thanks for all the replies guys. i went ahead and tried a bunch of stuff with the old C drive, but i didn't get anything to work. i reinstalled XP on my other HD and i'll probly let it copy all the files/folders from the old C to the new one. thanks for the help!
