The 5770 and 4890 are so close in terms of speed that it's almost irrelevant. You're not getting a 4890 OR a 5770 for high-end performance anyway. The difference would be 2 or 3 FPS at most, and the 5770 has DX11 features that the 4890 doesn't have. Also, the 5770 will likely improve its speed with driver enhancements, and the 4890 isn't going to get any faster with future drivers.

I agree with VishKapish's suggestions. It saves a bit of money, and gives you DX 11 features at a minimal cost in performance (2-3FPS max)

Maybe you're thinking of the 4870. That is what the 5770 is super close in power to. The 4890 is better.

Yep, the 4890 is a more powerful card. In some cases a decent amount of increase as well, stick with druids build.

I would possibly pair it with this
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-770T-USB3 AM3 AMD 770 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

and this ram
Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1333LV4GK

Only because it will give you usb3 and ddr3 ram. This will give you better resale as ddr2 is on its way out and if you don't upgrade or sell it in the future people will want usb3/ddr3. In case you don't care about these, ddr2 will give you the same performance virtually.

If he went with that mobo he would only have 1 pci-e 2.0 slot. Not that he needs another one atm, but you never know.
